This course - 'Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation' is a comprehensive introduction to this profession. You will learn about: the legal and ethical issues regarding wildlife rehabilitation in Ireland; safe rescue and handling techniques of wild animals; how to perform a physical examination; first aid and common ailments encountered; what to feed wildlife and how to house them; zoonotic diseases; and release considerations.
The highlight for most attendees- the practical sessions!!, include: capture and handling; physical examinations; injections; tube feeding; bandaging; and what you'll need in your 'Wildlife Rescue Kit'

Cancellation policy

WRI Event Cancellation Policy

1.) If a registrant is unable to attend the course for any reason they may substitute, by arrangement with the registrar, another person who is interested in attending.

2.) Where a registrant is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer his/her place to another person, then the following refund policy will apply: 

a. Registrations cancelled in writing with more than 30 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the full value paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events. 

b. Registrations cancelled in writing between 7 and 30 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the value of 50% of the registration fee paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events.

c. Registrations cancelled in writing with less than 7 days notice before the course will be issued with a voucher to the value of 25% of the registration fee paid, which can be redeemed on any of our subsequent courses, conferences or events. 

d. If a registrant does not attend or has to leave the course at any point once it has begun, they will not be eligible for a refund or a voucher.

In the unlikely event that the course is cancelled, a full refund will be issued to the registrant.

Refunds will be made in the following way: 

1.) For payments received by paypal, the same account will be credited. 

2.) For payments received by bank draft, cheque or postal order, a cheque will be sent payable to the original payee.

3.) It is the organization's policy not to issue refunds via bank transfer and we regret that exceptions cannot be considered.

After graduating with first-class honours from University College Dublin in 2005 Kieran worked in a busy large and small animal practice in County Tyrone. To pursue his interest in the small animal field, particularly orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, he moved to Birmingham to work in a small animal practice. After moving back to Ireland in 2010, Kieran worked initially in Clontarf Veterinary Hospital in Dublin and now works in Corry & O'Hare Vets in Northern Ireland.
